Philippians is a letter written by Paul while he was in prison, probably in Rome. He wrote it to the church at Philippi, a church he’d planted ten years before. He’d visited the church twice before he wrote this letter.

The church was under pressure. Under pressure from within - they suffered from both lack of unity and lack of humility. And they were under pressure from outside, from people opposed to the gospel. So Paul writes this letter to encourage them to stand firm and contend as one for the gospel (key verses: Philippians 1:27-28).

He begins by proclaiming that the gospel is advancing. Paul is imprisoned, but still the gospel is advancing. People with wrong motives preach the gospel - still the gospel is advancing. He encourages the Christians in Philippi to stand together as one, partnering with him in the spread of the gospel.

We are to think as Jesus thinks. To be humble, just as our Lord humbled himself for us on the cross.

Our eyes need to be fixed on our future.

The unit comes complete with stories, pictures, suggested songs/memory verses, games, drama activities, crafts, large and small group activities. A resource pack full of crafts and worksheets is also included.
