The good news of the book of Luke is summed up in Luke 19:10 “The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.” The gospel is for all who are lost. Jesus comes to save the poor, the widowed, the notorious sinner, the Jew first but the Gentile as well.
Jesus calls people to be devoted followers and to count the cost of true discipleship.
Chapters 6 to 9 are set in Galilee. This section of Luke reveals who Jesus is. The good news has been proclaimed in chapters 4-5 and opposition has already been experienced from the Pharisees in chapters 5-6. In chapter 6, Jesus turns his attention to teaching his disciples about what true discipleship looks like with his sermon on the plain. In chapter 7 we see the compassion of the Messiah towards Gentiles. In chapter 8 we see the power of the Messiah demonstrated. And finally in chapter 9, we see Jesus again focusing on his disciples.
The unit comes complete with stories, pictures, suggested songs/memory verses, games, drama activities, crafts, large and small group activities. A resource pack full of crafts and worksheets is also included.
