Romans 8 is regarded as it’s greatest chapter because it captures what it means to be in Christ. It begins with the declaration that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ and ends with the declaration that nothing in all creation can separate us from God and his love for us.
This chapter is full of reminders of all the blessings that come from being in Christ. If we are in Christ our sin has been fully paid for. Jesus paid in full on the cross. Our guilt is gone - we have nothing to fear.
God’s Spirit now lives in us and has brought us from death to life. He changed us and continues to change us.
Our place in God’s family has been secured - the adoption papers have been signed and sealed by his Spirit. And what awaits us is a resurrected glory shared with Christ. God’s love for us who are in Christ is also seen even in the pain and suffering of life. God is working for our good even in the bad. And the good is always to make us more and more like Jesus.
Romans 8 addresses issues of assurance from every angle. God not only wants to save us, he wants us to know we’re saved.
