Luke introduces us to Jesus, God’s perfect Saviour.

This section of Luke begins with Zaccheaus, a man lost to greed and deceit. Jesus came for people like him. “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:9-10) There would however be more who’d reject God’s Saviour than accept him.

The very crowds who welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem as God’s King, would be the very crowds who’d turn against him. In the Parable of the Tenants Jesus describes his rejection by the religious leaders (Luke 20:17). This rejection was foretold in Psalm 118, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” The religious leaders understood that the parable was directed at them. They then went and did the very thing the parable described. Jesus chose Judas knowing he’d not only reject him but betray him as well.

Luke records a number of significant points not recorded in other gospels. Luke records Jesus’ look to Peter after his third denial and the heartache Peter felt. Luke alone records the thief on the cross who begs to be remembered by Jesus. And Luke alone records the risen Lord Jesus’ walk with two of his followers on the road to Emmaus.

The man who denied him, Jesus restores. The thief who begged him Jesus takes to paradise that very day. And the disciples who do not see him, Jesus reveals himself to. He truly is the suffering Messiah, sent by God to save the world.

The unit comes complete with stories, pictures, suggested songs/memory verses, games, drama activities, crafts, large and small group activities. A resource pack full of crafts and worksheets is also included.
