Galatians is a letter written by Paul in 50 AD to a group of churches in the area of Galatia (modern day Turkey). It was written to cities such as Pisidian, Antioch, Iconium, Lystra and Derbe. Paul had visited this area as recorded in Acts 13 and 14 and had preached the gospel to a largely Gentile (non-Jewish) audience. Paul’s letters typically began with an introduction of the writer and the recipient of the letter. He’d offer a blessing, a word of encouragement and remind them of his prayers. Even the Corinthian church (full of immorality and division) got a warm greeting at the beginning of both letters.

But not so the Galatians. Paul was shocked - to the point of outrage. There was something seriously wrong. They were walking away from the gospel of grace. False teachers had come in were adding to the gospel Paul had preached. And anyone who added to this gospel had no gospel at all. It’s by grace, and grace alone, that we are saved. It’s not by what we do, but by what Jesus has done, that we are saved. We come in trusting in what Jesus has done and we continue by trusting in what Jesus has done. It’s all of Jesus, always.

And despite our diversity, because of Christ we are one. We’ve been set free from trying to keep the law. We are now part of God’s family. And because we are his family, God shares everything with us. God’s Spirit lives in us, so we walk in the Spirit, putting off our old life and growing in the fruit of the Spirit. Growing to be more and more like Jesus who saved us. And, as brothers and sisters in Christ we are to help each other to persevere until together we reach heaven.

The unit comes complete with stories, pictures, suggested songs/memory verses, games, drama activities, crafts, large and small group activities. A resource pack full of crafts and worksheets is also included.
